Introducing Property-Verify

Confirm a photo matches a specific property. Property-Verify checks visual evidence against listing imagery to answer: is this the same place?

Oceanir Team·Sep 27, 2026·4 min

Property-Verify is the third organ in the Manta suite. It answers a narrower question than geolocation or place-matching: is this photo of the same property as that listing? Not the same neighbourhood, not the same street. The same building, the same unit, the same room.

The use case is verification, not discovery. An insurance team receives a photo of water damage and needs to confirm it was taken inside the insured property, not a similar-looking unit in the same complex. A property manager needs to verify that move-in condition photos match the actual unit before a deposit dispute escalates. A short-term rental platform needs to confirm that listing photos represent the actual property being booked.

How it works

Property-Verify compares the query image against known reference imagery for a specific property: listing photos, previous inspection photos, street-view exterior shots, or any other verified imagery of that address. It looks for structural correspondence: the layout of rooms, the position of windows, the relationship between fixed features like built-in cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, and architectural details that do not change between visits.

This is not image similarity in the general sense. Two photos of the same kitchen taken a year apart will have different lighting, different objects on the counters, possibly different paint. What does not change is the geometry: where the window sits relative to the sink, the shape of the countertop edge, the tile pattern on the backsplash. Property-Verify reads those invariants.

Room-level precision

Where possible, Property-Verify identifies not just the property but the specific room. This matters for multi-room claims: a tenant reporting damage to “the bathroom” needs the photo to match the bathroom, not the kitchen. The system uses geometric verification to separate lookalike rooms within the same unit.

When the evidence is insufficient, it says so. A blurry photo of a blank wall gives it nothing to work with, and the honest answer is “cannot verify” rather than a forced match.

Relationship to the other organs

Property-Verify reuses the matcher’s visual comparison machinery but applies it to a different problem. The locator finds the region. Street-Match finds the exact place. Property-Verify confirms that two images depict the same interior space. They run independently, and their outputs are combined in the Manta evidence record.

Availability

Property-Verify is in early research preview. Access is narrow on purpose: it opens organization by organization and city by city, inside a reviewed workflow, and it will widen only as fast as we can keep it there.
